The CleverPAwz STORY
Bailey and Mollie (aka the Moppies) is where the CleverPawz journey began. My cute baby puppies came into my life in 2010, and although I had owned dogs previously and grew up with German Shepherds, this time it was different and professional help was needed.
Working in a crazy, full-time vocational training and management role, there was minimal time to spend on meeting their needs and oodles of mistakes were made along the way (and I am still learning). Bailey, my heart dog, has been my best teacher and inspiration for launching my professional dog training career in 2014 and my passion for helping owners and their much-loved pets to make a difference in their lives.

Owner and Founder
Hi, I'm Vicki, owner and founder of CleverPawz. I completed the Karen Pryor Academy Professional Animal Training course in 2014 as a Certified Training Partner (KPA CPT) and work as a professional dog trainer in Hobart and suburbs. I am proud of my professional qualification because it is one of the world’s most highly regarded and rigorous courses available using scientific, humane reward-based dog training methodologies. Since then, I have caught the training bug, and to this end have trained extensively within Australia and internationally. Combined with an international, national and statewide network of veterinary behaviourists, behaviourists, trainers and professional organisations this ensures that I am providing the most current, science-based services to my clients.
In 2014 I was also introduced to the magic of K9 Nose Work® and qualified as a K9 Nose Work® Instructor in 2019 and pro-actively upskill in scent work methodologies. I am passionate about how the “searching game” has benefited the numerous dogs I have trained especially from a behavioural and therapeutic perspective.

TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy is always evolving and that’s because science changes and I yearn to learn. It is my passion and I love training! My best teachers have been with my own dogs, especially Bailey (my heart dog) and all the animals that I have had the privilege of working with together with the most amazing trainers that have influenced my work.

I use positive reinforcement-based methodologies that builds trust, enhances the relationship and is fun. I strive to provide easy solutions to solve behavioural problems. Simply rewarding the “good behaviours” more often as well as teaching what to do “instead” will ultimately result in behavioural change.
